Deputy Sheriff, Full-Time

The Juniata County Sheriff’s Office has an opening for a full-time Deputy Sheriff. The starting hourly rate is $16.00 to $19.00 an hour (depending on training and experience) with benefits.

The responsibility of the Juniata County Sheriff’s Office is to serve and protect the citizens of Juniata County and its Justice system. The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for serving civil papers, transporting prisoners, enforcing Pennsylvania crimes and traffic code, as well as other duties.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Serving civil papers such as writs and orders of the Court.
2. Transporting and escorting prisoners to and from Court.
3. Enforcing Title 18 crimes code.
4. Enforcing Title 75 traffic code.
5. Serving and enforcing Protection from Abuse orders.
6. Providing security for the court.
7. Serving arrest warrants and bench warrants.
8. Effecting arrests and apprehending suspects.
9. Serving and enforcing court orders.
10. Issuing license to carry firearms permits.
11. Completing reports and office essential paperwork.
12. Transporting prisoners inter and intra state for extraditions.
13. Assisting other law enforcement agencies.
14. Conducting real-estate and personal property sales.
15. Maintaining operations by following Office policies and procedures.
16. Providing finger printing services.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
2. Must be at least 18 years of age.
3. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania drivers’ license.
4. Successful completion of a background investigation and interview.

Deputies without ACT 2 or ACT 120 training will be required to attend a 19-week Deputy Sheriff academy in State College, Pennsylvania.

Maintenance Technician

The Juniata County Maintenance Department has an opening for a Maintenance Technician. This position is classified as part-time on an “as needed” basis and non-union. Wages are $10.00/hour with no benefits.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED preferably supplemented by additional trade school training or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and basic knowledge of maintenance and repairs including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, heating, cooling, carpentry, mechanical and metal working.

Duties and Responsibilities: Assist the Maintenance Director with maintenance, repairs, and improvements throughout the County’s buildings and properties.

Maintenance Technician Job Description


Custodial and Maintenance Worker

The Juniata County Maintenance Department has an opening for a custodial and maintenance employee. This position is classified as full-time and union. Wages are $12.00 / hour with benefits.

Qualifications: High school diploma or GED preferably supplemented by additional trade school training or an equivalent combination of training and experience. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, a basic knowledge of custodial duties, and the ability to operate a variety of building and grounds maintenance equipment such as saws, drills, lawn mower, snow blower, etc. Must have basic computer knowledge and skills. Successful candidate must possess a Pennsylvania Criminal History Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance less than one (1) year old.

Duties and Responsibilities: Cleaning and custodial work throughout the County’s buildings and properties. Assist the Maintenance Director with maintenance, repairs, and improvements as needed.
