RECORDING/FILING:
The current practice of placing documents to be recorded or filed in the drop off box at the entrance to the Courthouse and sending documents through the mail will continue.

MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS:
All applications will be by appointment only. Please contact the office for details.

Probates/Estates: Please make an appointment if you need to probate. Appointments can be made by calling the Register and Recorder’s Office at (717)436-7709. When you call to make your appointment, arrangements will be made on how to proceed.

Inheritance Tax Payments: Please mail in payments to the Juniata County Register and Recorder’s Office. Receipts will be mailed to the customer.

Register of Wills Fee Schedule

The Juniata County Register and Recorder has many different roles which include the Recorder of Deeds, the Register of Wills and the Clerk of Orphans’ Court.

The Register of Wills office probates the wills of all decedents and issues letters of administration and testamentary in each estate. The Register also works as the Agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in collecting all inheritance tax and various fees relating to each estate.
