RECORDING/FILING:
The current practice of placing documents to be recorded or filed in the drop off box at the entrance to the Courthouse and sending documents through the mail will continue.

MARRIAGE LICENSE APPLICATIONS:
All applications will be by appointment only. Please contact the office for details.

PROBATES:
All probates will be by appointment only. For now, probates will be processed during a Zoom meeting. Please contact the office for details.

Recording: Mail in documents is the preferred method and the most convenient/safest for all involved. For walk-ins a drop off box will be located at the entrance of the courthouse for recording land records. The documents will be processed in the order that they are received. Documents will be returned either by mail or the recorder’s office will call the customer to schedule a pick-up time.

Notary Public Commissions: Please contact the Recorder of Deeds office to make an appointment to be sworn-in for your commission.

Recorder of Deeds Fee Schedule

The Juniata County Register and Recorder has many different roles which include the Recorder of Deeds, the Register of Wills and the Clerk of Orphans’ Court.

The Recorder of Deeds office handles all transactions dealing with real estate. This includes the recording of deeds, mortgages, and various miscellaneous items, such as right of ways, easements, power of attorney, leases, UCC’s (secured transactions), notary bonds, drafts of survey and subdivision plans, mortgage releases, satisfactions, postponements and assignments.
