Mission Statement of Adult Probation

The Juniata County Adult Probation Department is committed to public safety through competency development and accountability of the offender, consideration of the victim’s needs, prevention of criminal behavior, and imposition of legal responsibility, with respectful treatment for all involved.

Mission Statement of Juvenile Probation

The Juniata County Juvenile Probation Department is committed to provide balanced attention to the accountability and competency development of offenders, the needs of victim’s and protection and participation of the community with respectful treatment for all involved.

Responsibilities of the Probation Department

In general, the Probation and Parole Department has a threefold responsibility.

  • First, as a subsidiary department of the Court of Common Pleas of the 41st Judicial District, Juniata County Branch, the Probation and Parole Department is primarily responsible for the implementation of orders and directives of the court.
  • Second, the Probation and Parole department is responsible to the community for the protection of persons and property from the individuals placed under the supervision of this department.
  • Third, the Probation and Parole Department recognizes that as probation and parole officers we have responsibility to the probationer and parolee to render assistance, advice, and information in order to promote the restoration of the client to the community and to assure his adjustment to supervision.

As a service to the community we’ve placed a secure Drug Drop Box in the Juniata County Courthouse Annex Lobby.

It’s available Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M – 4:30 P.M. to accept your unwanted or expired medications.

Prescription and over-the-counter medications collected here will safely be kept out of the hands of our youth and others who might steal or abuse them. Collected drugs will be regularly disposed of in a safe and secure manner.

Please join us in saving our children and our environment by dropping off your out-dated, unused and unwanted medications today.
